Mortuary Supplies Made in Ontario

Body bags, a reusable transport bag, an infant carrier and mortuary sheeting for funeral homes, hospital morgues and coroner services, manufactured in Uxbridge, Ontario.

What Medgear makes, and what it does not

Medgear is a manufacturer of body bags and related soft goods, not a full-line mortuary distributor. The range is: human body bags in ten sizes, veterinary body bags in four, a reusable heavy-duty transport bag, an infant carrier bag, an underwater recovery bag and a 3 mil sheeting roll. Medgear does not list stretchers, cots, embalming chemicals or instruments. If you need those, source them elsewhere and buy the bags and sheeting here.

How the pieces fit a workflow

Medgear describes the sheeting as suited to mortuary prep areas and transport protection, with each single-use sheet giving a clean surface for each use. The bag is the container at the first call and for transfer; the reusable transport bag and infant carrier are the pieces designed to be cleaned and used again. A typical sequence, to be adapted to your own procedures:

    1. First call: a body bag sized to the decedent, with handles where the route involves stairs or a two-person lift.
    2. Inter-facility moves: the reusable transport bag where your protocol allows it, cleaned between uses.
    3. Prep area: disposable sheeting under and around the work surface, discarded after each case.

    What to stock, by facility

    • Funeral home: standard bags with handles, at least one bariatric, the black L-shape bag if you want a darker bag, and an infant bag with the carrier. Sheeting for the prep room.
    • Hospital morgue: standard and bariatric bags, the pediatric and perinatal sizes (Infant and Fetal), and pandemic bags for infection control. See the size chart to match every size.
    • Coroner service: the reusable transport bag, the L-shape bag, the underwater recovery bag and bariatric bags.

    Reusable versus single-use

Only two items are listed as reusable: the Heavy Duty Transport Bag (with proper cleaning) and the Infant Carrier Bag. The sheeting is single-use, and the body bags are not listed as reusable. Your infection-control policy governs cleaning and reuse, not this page.

This website does not publish case packs or minimum order quantities except where a product is sold in a stated quantity (the sheeting is a roll of 100 sheets), so ask for pack sizes and lead time with your quote. Samples and custom sizing are available on request.
